That’s that. ISPO is over for another year.
Every January thousands of outdoor industry big dogs descend upon Munich for a ginormous exhibition of the gear of tomorrow. Cutting edge technologies, pioneering workmanship, ample opportunities for networking and lots of alcohol… ISPO has it all.
Miss out on the action? Don’t stress! Here’s a run down of the innovative outdoor gear you should be looking out for in 2020…
A small square of doormat

They say: 4 times lighter than a normal-sized doormat.
We say: Leave your beer towels at home chaps, the small square of doormat has come to town!
Just like a regular doormat but smaller: the new design gives you the same bristle density that you’ve come to expect from a doormat in a lighter, more portable package. Guaranteed to get your rock boots squeaky clean every time you wipe!
A peanut butter and jam sandwich

They say: Precision in performance nutrition, engineered to let you be your best.
We say: The peanut butter and jam sandwich is performance nutrition at its zenith.
The jammy inner gives you the immediate boost you need, with an outer shell that breaks down to give you ready-to-use, longer-lasting energy. The blob of protein-rich peanut butter helps to boost your recovery.
There aren’t any ingredients you won’t recognise on the packet, making it a more natural alternative to other nutrition solutions.
A brush taped to the end of a stick

They say: Instinct drives us to adapt, instinct drives us to tape a brush to a stick.
We say: They say that nature inspires creativity, and the Brush Taped to the End of a Stick is the proof in the pudding. Designed for use both indoors and out, it takes your bog standard climbing brush and attaches it to a long stick using the best quality climbing tape so that you can clean those hard to reach holds, brush off your tick marks and help create a sustainable future for climbing.
Available in an infinite selection of shapes, lengths, girths, twists and angles, you can get a brush taped to the end of a stick to suit every one of your projects.
Crocs

They say: THE shoe for all weather comfort, all day long!
We say: Crocs are destined to become the decade’s go-to shoe for comfort, practicality and performance.
Crocs are engineered for long multi-pitching trips, featuring incredibly lightweight with Croc’s signiture comfort and a heel strap that you can clip on your harness. Ventilation holes keep your feet fresh on hot sunny days whilst the roomy fit leaves you space for your socks when the sun goes down (and your climbing shoes when you go to the loo at the wall).
We can’t get enough of the Croc’s the quick drying materials. Sure, you might get wet in a downpour, but you can wipe these bad boys dry at the end of the day ready for the send tomorrow!
Duct Tape

They say: A sustainable future for your gear.
We say: Gone are the days of the throwing out damaged gear. With Duct Tape, you can make your outdoor gear last longer. Waterproof, easy-to-use, incredibly tough and incredibly sticky, there isn’t much a bit of duct tape can’t fix!
Patch up your jacket, your car, your rucksack or your grazed knee; save your gear and save the planet!
Wellington Boots

They say: Shoes don’t have wheels, but that doesn’t stop Wellies from being the 4×4 of the footwear world.
We say: Sometimes a Croc can’t give you the traction or coverage that you need. If a bog is on the cards, don’t settle for anything less than wellington boots this winter.
Leg holes at the top make these wonderfully practical, whilst heavy duty grips on the bottom transition seamlessly into a not-quite-knee-high boot for full waterproof shin protection. They’re the future of Peak District crag approaches and jumping in puddles.
You’re welcome!
