Poem!

I’ve been reading Waymaking, which is an anthology of women’s adventure literature, art and poetry. It’s amazing to dip in and out of for little tastes of other people’s experiences in the outdoors. It’s like stories you can snack on, I definitely recommend it.

However, there was a distinct lack of art and literature about being indoors. Waymaking made me want to go swimming in open water, but I don’t live near open water.

In fact, I’ve spent a lot of time indoors recently, so here’s a short poem about swimming at the local pool.

The line. You follow the line
                                                  until it breaks. You tumble,
turn, exhale, arms flail.
                                    PUSH!
 You’re back, following the line
                             until next time.
